Coolsculpting and Menopause: The Perfect Antidote to the After-40 Belly

Coolsculpting series – Part 3.

In part 3 of our 3-part series, we look at why Coolsculpting is an ideal solution for menopausal women.

Why does belly fat increase after menopause?

Imagine: for most of your life you’ve either been relatively thin, or perhaps pear-shaped. Your belly? Never an issue.

Then, 40-something or pregnancy hits. Suddenly you’ve got a new pouch in a new place and the top of your pants won’t button anymore.

According to Dr. Oz, women are usually less prone to belly fat (compared to men) but as we age, hormonal changes and a slowing metabolism affect how and where our bodies store fat.

Fat gets redistributed—a term we like to call “the middle age spread.”

In case you’ve thought it’s you, your diet or just growing old, know there’s a whole lot of different processes going on in our bodies after menopause.

Menopause itself causes a loss of estrogen. Here’s how that looks: estrogen is made by our fat cells. So when we lose estrogen after menopause, our bodies produce more fat cells to try and balance this loss of a critical hormone.

To add to this hormonal storm, we’ve also got progesterone levels slowing down, and this can lead to bloating and water weight gain. (Aren’t you glad you asked?)

I often feel guilty, like I need to eat less because I’ve been told my metabolism slows with age. But no matter how much I cut back, I can’t seem to lose the belly fat and back pudge. How can Coolsculpting help me?

Coolsculpting’s fat-freezing technology gives long-term results that make trouble spots a lot less troubling.

Fat cells don’t like the cold and at a certain temperature they will freeze. Once that happens, your body will naturally eliminate the dead cells in 1-3 months or more, resulting in up to 20%-25% reduction of fat in a treated area.

Coolsculpting is one weapon you have at your disposal to help counteract a slowing metabolism and changing hormones. That’s why so many of our Coolsculpting clients are women in their 40s and 50s who suddenly have a new, unwelcome belly bulge.

Why is Coolsculpting ideal for pre-menopausal and menopausal women?

if you can squeeze it, we can freeze it. Your age, sex, hormones, or diet don’t matter. If you’ve found diet or exercise alone don’t fix your menopausal belly fat woes, Coolsculpting can help, permanently.

I only want my pants to fit better; I don’t really need to lose a lot of weight. Is Coolsculpting still right for me?

It might be! Come in to our Traverse City or Petoskey office for a complimentary consultation. We’ll review your problem areas and advise you on the best course of treatment.

Coolsculpting doesn’t work on visceral fat or sagging skin, so we need to assess your body in a consultation.

We want you to be happy and get the results you deserve. Sometimes liposuction or surgery are better options. Or plain weight loss if it’s visceral fat.

How many Coolsculpting sessions does it take to see results?

In just one treatment, you can see a reduction of 20-25% of fat in the targeted area. Treatments are also cumulative, so if you do multiple treatments in the same area, 6-8 weeks apart, the reduction can even be greater.

I’m a guy. Will this work for me? I hate my stubborn belly fat and no amount of sit-ups are giving me a six pack.

Absolutely. Men love Coolsculpting and find it rewarding to reduce their stomach or back fat further beyond their traditional exercise and diet regimens.
