Get to know your provider Kelly

We sat down with Kelly Conroy, MA, to talk about her work as a Medical Assistant at Cosmetic Skin & Laser Center in Fenton, Michigan, her passion for helping women feel more confident, and the surprisingly life-changing treatment she believes deserves far more attention than it gets. After nearly two decades in aesthetics and dermatology, Kelly has seen trends come and go, but her approach remains the same: listen first, be honest, and help patients feel like the best version of themselves.

Tell us a little about yourself. Where do you live, and what do you enjoy outside of work?
I live here in Fenton and have called the area home for the past 8 years. Outside of work, my favorite moments are often the simplest ones. I love spending time with my daughter, especially on slower weekends when we can grab coffee, sit together, and enjoy a conversation without being tied to a schedule. Those moments help me recharge and remind me what matters most.

What inspired you to pursue a career in aesthetics?
My background in dermatology is really what sparked my interest in aesthetics. While dermatology is focused on helping people through a variety of skin concerns and medical conditions, I became fascinated by the ways we can also help people age more confidently and feel better about themselves. It opened my eyes to the fact that healthcare can be both meaningful and transformative while also helping people look and feel their best.

Have you personally tried any of the treatments you offer? If so, which ones have been your favorites?
I have, and one of my favorites has actually been Emsella. I think it’s one of the most underrated treatments we offer here at the Fenton office.

Before treatment, I struggled with urinary frequency, urgency, and incontinence. Emsella changed the way I lived. I no longer have to plan my day or my vacations around finding the nearest restroom. For me, it was truly life-changing, and that’s why I love talking to patients about it.

I’ve also had CoolSculpting and Emsculpt treatments, but Emsella remains the treatment that surprised me the most because of the impact it had on my everyday life.

What types of treatments do you specialize in or love performing the most?
One of my favorite treatments to perform is vaginal rejuvenation because it can make such a meaningful difference in a woman’s quality of life. Many women live with symptoms they assume are simply part of aging, and it’s incredibly rewarding to help them discover there are solutions available.

I also love body contouring treatments. Helping women address areas they’ve been self-conscious about for years and supporting them throughout their confidence journey is something I genuinely enjoy. It’s not just about the treatment itself. It’s about being there for patients as they work toward their goals.

What are some of the most common concerns patients come to you with?
The most common concerns I see are fine lines, wrinkles, volume loss, skin laxity, and crepey skin. Many patients feel like they look older or more tired than they feel, and they’re looking for solutions that help them feel more confident while still looking like themselves.

What’s your favorite combination treatment or treatment plan to create noticeable yet natural transformations?
I love combining CoolSculpting and Morpheus8.

CoolSculpting can help reduce stubborn areas of unwanted fat, while Morpheus8 helps tighten and remodel the skin afterward. Together, they create beautiful, natural-looking body contouring results. For many patients, it’s an excellent option because it offers significant improvement without surgery and with much less downtime than more invasive procedures.

Celebrities and “bad plastic surgery” often make clients nervous about treatments. What do you say to assure them that results can still look natural?
Natural results come down to the provider.

It’s important to work with someone who is experienced, properly trained, and willing to be honest with you about what’s realistic. I want my patients to know that I genuinely care about their long-term outcome. My goal is never to make someone look overdone. It’s to help them look refreshed, confident, and like themselves.

What do you think patients often misunderstand about Botox, fillers, skin rejuvenation, or aesthetics?
One of the biggest misconceptions is expecting non-surgical treatments to create surgical results.

I often tell patients that aesthetics is a game of millimeters, not inches. These treatments can create beautiful improvements, but it’s important to have realistic expectations. Sometimes the best advice I can give is that a different treatment, or even surgery, may be the better option for achieving a specific goal.

Being honest upfront helps build trust, and ultimately that’s what leads to the best patient experience.

How have you seen the field of aesthetics evolve over the last 5 years?
The growth of regenerative medicine has been one of the biggest changes I’ve seen.

Treatments like PRF and PRP have helped shift the conversation toward using the body’s own natural healing abilities. Patients are increasingly interested in treatments that work with their biology, stimulate collagen, and support long-term skin health.

I’ve also seen tremendous growth in conversations around hormone optimization and overall wellness. More people are beginning to understand that looking your best often starts with feeling your best.

What do you think the next 5-10 years will look like in aesthetic medicine?
I think we’ll continue moving toward treatments that are more regenerative, natural, and biologically driven.

The future is likely going to involve even more ways to use the body’s own healing processes to improve skin quality, support healthy aging, and enhance overall wellness. Patients are becoming more educated about what they’re putting into their bodies, and I think the industry will continue evolving in that direction.

What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence means being able to look in the mirror, smile, and feel comfortable with the person looking back at you.

I think women spend so much time comparing themselves to others or worrying about what people think. True confidence comes from feeling comfortable in your own skin and walking into a room without second-guessing yourself. When patients reach that point, it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of their journey.

Just for fun: What’s your go-to treatment you can’t live without?
Emsella, without question.

It may not be the most glamorous answer, but it’s the treatment that made the biggest difference in my daily life. Sometimes the most impactful treatments aren’t the ones people can see. They’re the ones that help you live more comfortably and confidently every day.
