What if the best aesthetic results are not about changing how you look, but helping you look more like yourself again? For Marcy Carr, PA-C, thoughtful aesthetics means enhancing what is already there through a conservative, full-face approach that prioritizes skin health, balance, and natural-looking results. We sat down with Marcy, Aesthetic & Regenerative PCP at Cosmetic Skin & Laser Center in Winter Park and Lake Mary, to talk about her approach to injectables and regenerative aesthetics, why she believes less is more, and the treatments she loves both personally and professionally.

Tell us a little about yourself. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I live in Lake Mary, Florida. Outside of work, I love thrifting, traveling, and hiking with my boyfriend and my dog, Dory. She’s a Lab and Pit Bull mix and definitely one of my favorite hiking companions.

Have you personally tried any of the treatments you offer? Which are your favorites?
I’ve tried quite a few, including Botox, PRF under the eyes, laser hair removal, Radiesse, and microneedling. Microneedling with PRF is probably one of my favorites because I love treatments that work with the body’s own regenerative processes to improve the skin.

What is your philosophy when it comes to aesthetic treatments?
My philosophy is to enhance what someone already has rather than trying to change how they look. I want patients to look natural, refreshed, and like themselves, just elevated. It’s really about helping someone become the best version of themselves rather than creating an entirely different appearance.

How do you approach creating results that look natural and balanced?
I look at the whole face rather than focusing on a single area. If someone comes in interested in lip filler, for example, I’m also looking at their proportions, anatomy, skin quality, and overall facial balance.

Aesthetics isn’t really a one-and-done process. We have so many different tools available, and the goal is to determine which combination makes the most sense for that individual patient.

What treatments do you especially love performing?
Injectables are some of my favorites. I love treatments that support collagen, including Sculptra and Radiesse, as well as neuromodulators like Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Daxxify. I also really enjoy PRF and microneedling because of the regenerative benefits they can offer the skin.

What are some of the most common concerns patient come to you with?
A lot of patients tell me they simply look tired or don’t feel like themselves anymore. I also hear concerns about smile lines and fine lines around the mouth, particularly as patients get older.

That’s where looking beyond one individual line becomes important. Sometimes we need to address skin quality, sometimes volume, and often a combination of factors. A comprehensive approach usually creates a much more natural result.

Is there a patient experience that has been especially meaningful to you?
I had a patient in her 70s who came to me because she felt like she constantly looked tired. She was still working and running a business with her husband, and she wanted her appearance to better reflect how she felt.

Over time, we worked on her skin quality with laser treatments and microneedling, incorporated Sculptra and Botox, and very thoughtfully placed filler in areas where she had experienced volume loss. When we eventually looked back at her original photos together, even she was shocked by the transformation. It was a beautiful improvement, but she still looked like herself. Experiences like that are incredibly rewarding.

What do you tell patient who are afraid of looking overdone?
Going slowly and taking a conservative approach makes a huge difference. If someone is nervous about lip filler, for example, we don’t have to create the entire result in one appointment. We can build gradually over two sessions and allow the result to evolve naturally.

With injectables, less is often more. Thoughtful product selection, placement, and understanding anatomy are incredibly important to creating results that don’t look overfilled.

Is there a treatment that has particularly surprised you with its results?
Ultherapy has really impressed me. It uses focused ultrasound to stimulate collagen and can create a beautiful, gradual lifting and tightening effect without surgery. I especially love the natural-looking improvements we can achieve in areas such as the neck and lower face.

What advice do you give patients who come in with inspiration from social media?
I tell them not to focus too heavily on what they see on Instagram. So much of what we see online is edited, filtered, or simply not achievable for every person, especially in one appointment.

I would much rather focus on you: your anatomy, your features, your skin, and what we can do to naturally elevate those things. Trends come and go. Your treatment plan should be designed around you.

What makes CSLC different than other med spas?
It starts with the consultation. Before we ever perform a treatment, we take the time to understand your history, what you’ve already tried, what you’re interested in, and where you ultimately want to go.

From there, we can build a customized, long-term plan rather than performing the same treatment on every patient. I also love how much CSLC emphasizes education and training. We’re continually learning, reviewing anatomy, understanding how treatments work, and advancing our skills so we can make thoughtful recommendations for our patients.

What do you think the next 5-10 yeasr will look like in aesthetic medicine?
I think we’re going to see significant advancements in technology, from lasers and energy-based devices to injectables. Treatments will continue becoming more sophisticated, and I think we’ll have even more options that allow us to customize care while creating natural results.

What does confidence mean to you?
Confidence means being comfortable with yourself and believing in yourself. It’s about putting your best foot forward, trying your best, and being a positive light for the people around you.

What are your go-to skincare products?
Skinbetter Science Alto Advanced Defense and Repair Serum is one of my absolute favorites, along with Colorescience Sunforgettable Total Protection Face Shield Flex. I use both every day. Living in Florida, protecting my skin from the sun is incredibly important.

What is an aesthetic philosophy you wish more people understood?
More isn’t necessarily better. You don’t need to do everything at once or rely on large amounts of filler to get a great result. I encourage patients to think of skincare and aesthetics as a journey. Small, intentional treatments over time can create beautiful results while still allowing you to look like yourself.

What’s your coffee order?
An iced caramel macchiato from Dunkin’.

And your dream destination for a little rest and recharge?
Japan. I’ve always wanted to go.
